Talking to Himself
On the outside, it speaks the language of humankind; on the inside is depth without end. Grasp either end and you have nothing. Grasp both and you have G-d Himself

Yitro in a Nutshell
The Israelites camp opposite Mount Sinai, and declare their willingness to perform G-d’s will. G-d proclaims the Ten Commandments, but His voice is too intense for the Israelites, and they beg Moses to be their intermediary.

Frame of Mind
I tried to maintain a stoic expression as I left my doctor's office. Only later that night, in the darkness of my children's bedroom, did I allow myself to consider the darkest, harshest possibilities

Orthodox Judaism and Unorthodox Jews
I like Shabbat. I like Torah, especially the Kabbalah stuff and Chassidic stories. I feel a strong attachment to the Jewish people. But I'm a non-conformist at heart -- I just can't see myself following all those regulations

Get Your Child Talking
Some children are not talkative, and it's very hard for the parent to know what's really going on in their life and in their mind

How were the Ten Commandments given? Five on one tablet and five on a second tablet. This means that "Do not murder" corresponds to "I am G-d your G-d." What is this analogous to? To a king of flesh and blood who entered a country and put up portraits of himself, and made statues of himself, and minted coins with his image. After a while, the people of the country overturned his portraits, broke his statues and invalidated his coins, thereby reducing the image of the king. So, too, one who sheds blood reduces the image of the King, as it is written (Genesis 9:6): "One who spills a man's blood... for in the image of G-d He made man."

The world is a place of constant change and unrest.
Each point in time is distinct from the point before and the point after.
Each point in space is its own world, with its own conditions and state of being.
It is a world of fragments, a perpetual rush of traffic and noise.
Look at your own life: You do so ...
